The calcium-rich mineral compound KBS Kelzyme Element XX Fine - 1 lb promotes root, shoot, and plant growth. It is micronized for use in hydroponic systems and is compatible with all media. Our hydroponic customers' plants depend on calcium to build strong cell walls, strong stems, and robust leaves. Due to its cation exchange capabilities, some growing media, such as coco coir, recommend extra calcium, especially during the first few weeks of a plant's existence.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USE:
Application rates are set forth below but may vary by soil type and condition. Compacted soil double the initial application rate. May be applied by hand, machine, or broadcast spreader.

Newly Established Turf and Landscape: Spread 15-30 LBS. per 1000 SQ. FT.

Established Turf and Soil:
- Apply 7-15 LBS. per 1000 SQ. FT.
- Continue to reapply every three to six months throughout the growing season, as needed.

Field Crops: Apply 7-14 LBS. per 1,000 SQ FT. Continue to reapply to the soil as needed.

Row Crop (root vegetables, brassicas, lettuce):
- Apply 10-20 LBS. per 1,000 SQ FT.
- Continue to reapply no more than once a year to the soil.

Trees, Shrubs & Flowers:
- Apply 1 to 2 cups to the soil near the base of small plants, trees, and shrubs.
- Increase application for larger plants. Use up to 20 LBS. per 1000 SQ.FT.
- Apply twice yearly in the spring and the fall.

Vineyards:
- Apply 1 to 2 cups to the soil near the vine trunk/root area. Use up to 12-18 LBS. per 1,000 SQ. FT.
- For maximum results, water thoroughly after each application.
- Store in a cool, dry place. Keep tightly sealed.

Mixing Instructions: Mix with water at a rate of 1-2 ounces per 10-20 gallons of water

Soil, Turfs, and Lawn Application:
- Apply in irrigation water until the ground is saturated.
- Continue applications through the growing season as needed

Hydroponic Application: Application rates may vary by hydroponic systems

Nursery & Container:
- Add to sprayer (hand, backpack, or power unit) and apply
- Store in a cool, dry place. Keep tightly sealed.

Caution: Particle size may not be appropriate for all drip system components.

ABOUT PLANT NUTRIENTS

All plants need three primary base nutrients on a regular basis throughout their life cycle: nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K). These three macro-nutrients are usually displayed on the packaging of plant nutrients as NPK ratio.

Nitrogen (N) - Nitrogen is very mobile in the soil, and nitrogen in the form of nitrate has a tendency to leach away from the root zone. Nitrogen can also be lost to the atmosphere. Certain fertilizers, particularly urea, are easily converted to volatile forms of nitrogen if watered or incorporated into the soil after application. Soil testing for nitrogen is unreliable because it is so mobile in the soil. Timing of nitrogen fertilizer application should be crop-specific Excessive nitrates in drinking water are an environmental concern—another reason to maximize nitrogen utilization by plants and minimize excessive applications.

Phosphorus (P) - Phosphorus is essential in energy transformations in the plant. Without adequate phosphorus, carbohydrates manufactured in the leaves could not be transported to the flower or developing fruit, or stored in roots or bulbs. Phosphorus is usually associated with flowers, fruiting, and carbohydrate storage in roots, tubers, and bulbs.

Potassium (K) - Potassium is essential for photosynthesis, as regulation of cell turgidity, respiration, and water movement in the plant. It also controls the opening and closing of the plant’s stomata. Adequate potassium fertilization helps plants cope with drought stress, increases disease resistance, improves winter hardiness, and improves crop quality.
